Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Clara Parks Hemphill, age 84 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, November 24, 2021.  Mrs. Hemphill was born in Jefferson, Georgia, a daughter of the late Henry Osborn Parks and the late Lucille Sears Parks, and was retired from the University of Georgia.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hemphill is preceded by sisters, Ruby Sweeney, Frances Roberts, and Betty Davis, brothers, Garnett, H.O., Willie and John Parks and a granddaughter, Deven Louise Hemphill.
 
Survivors include her husband Burley Hemphill, Jr., of Jefferson.  Son Ricky Hemphill (Karen) of Jefferson, daughter, Debbie Hemphill Lanier (Steve) of Hull.  Grandsons, Chad Hemphill of Jefferson, Trevor Lanier of New Jersey, Tyler Lanier of Danielsville.  Four great grandchildren, Justin and Cailyn Lanier, Rett Hemphill, and Edie Hemphill.  One sister, Alma Aiken of Athens.
 
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 27, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Dugar Strickland officiating with burial to follow in the Dry Pond Methodist Church Cemetery.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Chad Hemphill, Trevor Lanier, Wayne Aiken, Garrett Parks, Steve Lanier, and Rett Hemphill.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service 11:00 – 1:00 P.M.

WEBB
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Frances Louise Dooley Webb, age 79 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Tuesday, November 23, 2021.  Mrs. Webb was born in Cleveland, Georgia a daughter of the late Tom and Hassie Mae Howington Dooley.  Mrs. Webb was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Webb is preceded by her husband Bill Webb, Jr.
 
Survivors include five children, Sheryl Stucky, Kevin Hulsey, Wanda Westby, Sheila Kethley and Tracie Morris.  One brother, Tommy Dooley, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren also survive.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Scott Hamrick, age 55 of Jefferson, Georgia, who entered into rest Saturday, November 20, 2021.  Mr. Hamrick was born in Duluth, Georgia a son of Joe and Betty Pritchett Hamrick of Hoschton.  Mr. Hamrick was a member of The Jackson County Baptist Church and worked in the Construction Industry.
 
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamrick is survived by his wife, Melanie “Cissy” Mason Hamrick of Jefferson.  Son, Mason Hamrick (Alyssa Joy) of Hoschton, daughter, Hannah Hamrick (Aaron Eigenbauer) of Athens.  Sister, Sherry Arnold (Chris) of Jefferson and a niece, Mandy Kemp(Chris Zalewski) of Jefferson, great Nephew Cole Kemp.  Mother in Law, Joyce Clarke Mason and Sister in Law, Jennifer Mason both of Jefferson. 
 
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Mr. Marvin Walker officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service 12:00 - 2:00 P.M.

THOMPSON
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Merle Satterfield Thompson, age 86 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Sunday, November 21, 2021.  Mrs. Thompson was born in Hoschton, Georgia a daughter of the late Henry and Toma Stepp Satterfield, was a retired Secretary and a member of Galilee Christian Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson is preceded by a son Lee Thompson, six sisters, Lucille Arnold, Myrtice Shropshire, Judy Perkins, Anne Evans, Allene Wilkinson and Bert Carrol. Three brothers, Lee, Royce and Bryce Satterfield.
 
Survivors include two daughters, Ginger Weldon (Ronnie) of Jefferson, Edie Thompson Archer of Jefferson.  One son, Bill Thompson (Sandy) of Jefferson.  One sister, Pat Johnson (Gus) of Jefferson.  Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
 
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Jordan Weldon officiating with burial to follow in Woodbine Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the funeral 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

COOPER
Christine Anne Goodale Cooper of Sylva, North Carolina passed through the veil to join her Mother, Father and Brother in the Spirit World on November 19, 2021.  
In addition to her husband Curtis Preston Cooper, of 38 years, she leaves behind her 5 children; Bartholomew Christian Peterson (Bart), Richard Eben Peterson (Rick), Julie Anne Peterson Grace, Orin Henry Peterson (Ski), Christine Margaret Peterson and Curtis’ 4 children: Terri Celene Cooper Shahgheibi, Jodi Deanne Cooper, Beverly Gaye Cooper Blackburn and Carolyn Diana Cooper Mathis, along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
Chris and Curtis were former co-owners of Singing Waters Camping Resort located near Tuckasegee, NC from 1987 until 2007 when they built and moved into their forever home in Sylva.
 
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 22, 2021, with Interment in the family plot at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Pendergrass, Georgia.

HUNTER
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Mary Lee Hutchins Hunter, age 82 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, November 17, 2021.  Mrs. Hunter was a daughter of the late William Thomas Hutchins and the late Lizzie Mae Cowart Hutchins, was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church, and was retired from the Textile and Retail Industry.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunter is preceded in death by her husband, Seth Edward Hunter.
 
Survivors include two sons, Billy Hunter of Jefferson, and Timothy Hunter of Nicholson.  Sister, Mildred Parson of Maysville.  Two grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
 
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 20, 2021 from the Lebanon  Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Danny Ashworth officiating.  Visitation will take place at the Graveside.

HAMBY
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Randall Roy Hamby, age 72 of Hoschton, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, November 11, 2021.  Mr. Hamby was born in Atlanta, Georgia, a son of the late Furman Smith Hamby and the late Nellie Emmitt Hamby, he attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and was retired from the WD-40 company as the National Sales Director.
 
Mr. Hamby is survived by his wife, Joyce Mullins Hamby of Hoschton.  One daughter, Marisa Lynn Carter (Robert) of Marietta.  Three sons, Furman Scott Hamby (Lisa) of Braselton, Randall Keith Hamby (Gayanne) of Jasper, and Kenny Shane Hamby (Sara) of Jefferson.  One sister, Linda Williams (Henry) of Durham, North Carolina and eleven grandchildren also survive.
 
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 20, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor John Baker officiating.  Burial was held at an earlier date in Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson.

FITZPATRICK
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Mary Evelyn Fitzpatrick, age 85 of Commerce, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 Mrs. Fitzpatrick was born October 8, 1936, in Morganton, North Carolina, the daughter of the late William and Catherine McCooey Sloan, she is preceded in death by her husband Cyril Thomas “C.T.” Fitzpatrick, daughter Mary Doran, two brothers Bill Sloan and Al Sloan. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a homemaker and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Athens, she also was a member of the Stone Mountain Lady’s Golf Club, Mystery Valley Lady’s Golf Club and the Georgia Cancer Society Golf Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Fitzpatrick Blanton and her husband Stacy of Jefferson, son-in-law David Doran of Gainesville, grandchildren, Stephanie Rindfleish and her husband Josh, Kevin Doran, Caitlin Louderback and her husband Austin, great grandchild, Charlotte Rindfleish, nephews, Stephen and Joseph Fitzpatrick and Bear Sloan.
 
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday November 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church with Father Michael Revak officiating, with burial to follow in  Evans Memory Gardens.
 
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday November 11, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home.

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Brian Keith Holcombe, age 52 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Monday, November 8, 2021.  Mr. Holcombe was born in Decatur, Georgia a son of Mr. Joseph Wayne Holcombe and Mrs. Wanda Lanette Stanley Holcombe of Jefferson.  Mr. Holcombe was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church and was a Teacher and Coach with the Dekalb County School System. 
 
Survivors in addition to his parents is his wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Redimarker Holcombe of Jefferson.  Three sons, Justin Holcombe (Zhy), Vance Holcombe (Caroline), and Michael Holcombe all of Jefferson.  Two brothers, David Holcombe (Lisa) of Jefferson, and Brandon Holcombe (Amanda) of Lavonia.  Two grandchildren, Jaycee, and Ansley, and one on the way.
 
Memorial services will be held 5:00 P.M. Sunday, November 14, 2021, from the Walnut Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Rusty Newman officiating.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Evans Funeral Home.

DOOLEY

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Vincent Dean Dooley, age 57 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Monday, November 8, 2021.  Mr. Dooley was born in Great Yarmouth, England, a son of the late Horace Miledge Dooley and Edith Pritchett Dooley of Jefferson.  Mr. Dooley was an Electronics Technician.  In addition to his father, he is preceded by a brother, Victor M. Dooley.
 
Survivors include his mother, Edith Pritchett Dooley of Jefferson.  Sister, Bina Dooley Gobler (Robert) of Lake Park, Georgia.  Niece, Stephanie Gobler, nephew, Kyle Gobler, and great nephew, Caleb Gobler.
 
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 12, 2021 from Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens, Georgia with Reverend Richard Huyche officiating.  The family will receive friends at the graveside.

Edward Ray Gunter, age 83, of Winder passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021. Ray loved his family and church but he also loved working on anything including his yard. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Martha Ledford Gunter; son Danny Ray Gunter and  Tammy R. Crumley of Arcade; brother Larry Gunter and wife Charlotte of Royston; sisters Frances Sullens of Homer, Shirley Pruitt and husband Jerry of Commerce; grandson Corey Lee Gunter and wife Sarah of Hoschton; great grand daughter Magnolia Mae Gunter and a host of other relatives.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 8, 2021 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Patricia Ruth Gordon, age 65, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021. Mrs. Gordon was born on June 8, 1956, in Newton, Illinois, a daughter to Mrs. Ruth Denny Eastep of Illinois and the late Harold Lee Robey. Mrs. Gordon owned a cleaning service and was a member of the Jackson County Baptist Church.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Christopher “Chris” Andrew Pendley, age 37 of Nicholson, Georgia, who entered into rest Tuesday, November 2, 2021.  Mr. Pendley was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was a Handyman by trade.  Mr. Pendley is preceded by his grandparents, Geneva Sanders, James Donald Jones, Willie Sue Pendley and Harold R. Pendley and an aunt, Carol Pendley Johnson.
 
Survivors include his mother, Lonna Maye Jones Pendley of Nicholson, father, Ronald Harold Pendley of Gainesville.  Two daughters, Abby N. Bailey and Cailin A. Pendley.  Sister, Emma Turner, brother, Jamie Pendley.  Step grandmothers, Wanda Camp and Shirley Jones.  Aunts, Donna Chambers, Rhonda Ackerman, Johnna Wilson, Linda Peppers, and Joan Pendley.  Uncle, Carter Jones, and numerous cousins also survive.

Tammey Delane Hinson, age 56, of Braselton passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021.  Tammey was the owner of The Hoschton Cafe for 20 years. She not only loved the Lord and her family, Tammey loved and appreciated her community.  Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Michael A. SPENCE
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Betty Sue Carter Spence, age 89 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, October 29, 2021.  Mrs. Spence was born in Winder, Georgia a daughter of the late Lissie Clayton Carter and the late Daisy Bailey Carter Holcombe.  Mrs. Spence was a long time member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, and was currently a member of the White Plains Baptist Church. Mrs. Spence retired from Johns Manville Corporation.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spence is preceded by her husband Albert Lannis Spence, Sr. and by six sisters and one brother and was the last survivor of her immediate family.
 
Mrs. Spence is survived by a loving family that will cherish her memory forever and that consists of a daughter, Brenda Jones (Tommy) of Jefferson, son, Albert Spence (Pam) of Winder, Four grandchildren, Kristi Collins (Jeff), Jennifer Roberts (Terry), Tracy Jones (Angie), and Taylor Spence. Fourteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren also survive.
 
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Carey Pittman officiating with burial to follow in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Tracy Jones, Brandon Morrow, Cody Clark, Destin Williams, Kolton Jones, Jake Roberts, Grayson Collins, and Jimmy Autry.  Eddie Atha, Chris Ledbetter, Bill Byrd, Jimmy Demarco, Junior McDaniel, Pat Carter, James Carter, John Michael Scott, James Scott, Joe Scott, and Josh Scott will all be honored as honorary pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. JOHNSON
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. John Jarrard Johnson, age 46 of Jefferson, Georgia who went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, October 26, 2021.  John was born in Atlanta, Georgia.  He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1998. John was a member of the Galilee Christian Church.  He was a Project Manager with the Southern Company. 
 
John was a dedicated family man.  His family was his life.  He was a devoted husband and father.  Much of his free time was spent coaching football with the Jefferson Recreation Department, and he loved every minute of it.  John also had a big heart for dogs.  He enjoyed relaxing with his two Havanese- Gillian and Killer.
 
Another activity he enjoyed with family was UGA football.  John was an avid fan and attended almost every home game for over 25 years.
 
Survivors include his wife Wendy Lee Johnson of Jefferson.  Son, John Jarrard “Jack” Johnson Jr. of Jefferson.  Step-son, James Mackinley “Mack” Allen of Lawrencville, step-daughter, Hazel Jane Allen of Jefferson.  His sweet Grandmother, Allie Jarrard of Loganville and Uncle and Aunt, Tom and Denise Jarrard of Stone Mountain, of whom all raised him as their own. His cousins Kathy Smith, Andy Allen, Trey Jarrard, and Julie McKinzey. Although they are listed as cousins, to John they were simply his brothers and sisters.  
 
Memorial services will be held 6:30 P.M., Thursday, November 4, 2021 from the Galilee Christian Church with Minister Nick Vipperman officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Church prior to the service, 5:30 – 6:30 P.M. This service has been scheduled for Thursday because the Dawgs will be playing on Saturday and as the dedicated fan that he was, John would have been very upset if we planned his service during a Georgia football game.
