HUBBARD
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Ms. Sadie Motes Hubbard, age 82 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Sunday, January 24, 2021.  Ms. Hubbard was born in Jefferson, Georgia a daughter of the late Herman and Hazel Stover Motes, was a member of Harmony Street Baptist Church in Gainesville and was retired from the Health Care Industry.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Hubbard is preceded by a daughter, Rebecca Sue Hubbard, brother, Gordon Herman Motes, Jr., and a sister, Betty Culver.
 
Survivors include a son, Johnny Ledford (Elizabeth) of Flowery Branch, daughter Dee Ledford of Monticello, daughter, Darlene Davis of Cleveland, son, Brian Hubbard (Holly) of Greenville.  Brother, J.W. Motes of Oakwood, sisters, Carolyn Harris of Lula, Mildred Voyles of Jefferson, Juanita Broome of Clermont and Annette Baugh of Lula.  Eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 25, 2021 from the Dry Pond United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy Peck officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 25, 2019 at the funeral home.  Those attending the visitation and the service are asked to maintain safe social distancing and to wear a protective mask due to the current COVID 19 Pandemic.

GRASHORN
Mr. George Eric Grashorn, 80 of Jefferson, Georgia was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on January 21, 2021.  He is greatly loved and missed by his family and friends, and was a man of great character and faith.  George’s laugh could light up a room and he was extremely loyal, caring, and hardworking, with an amazing sense of humor.  He instilled strong values with his family and led by example with honesty with honesty and love.
 
George enjoyed spending time at Lake Hartwell, including waterskiing and boating with his family.  After graduating from Lake Forest College, he had a successful career in the insurance industry especially establishing his own firm, Electronic Medical Claims.
 
George was the son of the late Gerard and Gunhild Grashorn.  Raised in Glenview, Illinois, he lived in New Jersey for many years before moving to Georgia in 2012.  He is survived by his wife of 40 years Debra (n’ee Brittan), his children Dave (Robin) Grashorn, Dawn (Andrew) Metzler, Kim (Pat) McMahon, Sue Krock, and grandchildren Amanda Kavaja, Ava Grashorn, Danny McMahon, Megan Krock, Paddy McMahon, Shannon Kavaja, and Yvonee Grashorn.  He is also survived by his sister Susan (Graham) Jackson and many other loving family members.
 
Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson, Georgia will host the visitation on Sunday, January 24, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 4:00 – 6:00.  George’s celebration of life will take place at Jefferson First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, Georgia on Monday, January 25, at 2:00 with Rev. Brian Funderburke officiating.  The burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens in Jefferson. All are welcome to attend to celebrate George’s legacy and the wonderful memories we have with him.

ATCHLEY
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Debra Jean Norris Atchley, age 61 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, January 21, 2021.  Mrs. Atchley was born in Gainesville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Billy Joe Norris, Sr. and the late Donna Ruth Jarrard Norris and was a homemaker. 
 
Survivors include her husband of forty- eight years, Donnie Atchley of Jefferson.  Daughter, Jeanna Grizzle and her husband Justin of Cleveland.  Three brothers, Billy Norris and his wife Priscilla of Jefferson, Ronnie Norris and his wife Sandy of Jefferson, and Kenny Norris of Commerce.  Two sisters, Lavonne Norris of Maysville, Lisa Strickland and her husband Tim of Maysville.  Three grandchildren, Will, Ethan, and Owen Herrin also survive.
 
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 23, 2021 from Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce, Georgia, with Reverend Eric Shelton officiating.   The family will receive friends at the graveside.  Those attending are asked to practice safe social distancing and a please wear protective masks due to the COVID 19 Pandemic.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the March of Dimes at www.marchofdimes.org/

CRANE
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Polly Sue Hunter Crane, age 77 of Maysville, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, January 20, 2021.  Mrs. Crane was born in Franklin County, Georgia a daughter of the late Moody and Arletta Brock Hunter, was of the Baptist Faith and was a Homemaker.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crane is preceded by a sister, Faye Bonner and her late husband of sixty-one years, Howard William Crane.
 
Survivors include three children, Tim Crane and his wife Kaye of Commerce, Danny Crane and his wife Rebecca Crane of Maysville, and Susan Mealor of Maysville.  Four sisters, Shirley Whitlock of Commerce, Patsy Minish of Commerce, Becky Chestnut of Commerce, and Bonnie Parr of Maysville.  Three brothers, David Hunter of Homer, Eddie Hunter of Toccoa and Major Hunter of Homer.  Grandchildren, Abby Crane, Katie Lucia, Brandon Crane, Crystal Mealor, Matt Mealor, and Kenny Langston.  Great grandchildren, Jackson Dyer, Jeremiah Dyer, Mark Lucia and Rick Lucia also survive.
 
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 24, 2021 from Evans Memory Gardens, 1350 Winder Highway, Jefferson, Georgia with Reverend Larry Dyer and Reverend Chuck Cook officiating with burial to follow in the cemetery.  The family will receive friends 1:00 – 5:00 P.M. FARMER
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Laquila Lee Sosbee Farmer, age 78 of Athens, Georgia (South Jackson Community) who entered into rest Tuesday, January 19, 2021.  Mrs. Farmer was born in Oconee County, Georgia a daughter of the late William Carroll Sosbee and the late Bertie Lee Moore Sosbee, was a member of Bogart United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
 
Survivors include her husband, Walter Kenneth “Buddy” Farmer of Athens.  Son, Michael David Farmer of Jacksonville, daughter, Barbara Lee Dickson of Royston, son, Walter Kenneth Farmer, Jr. of Athens, sister, Sandra Carol Roberts of Winder.  Seven grandchildren also survive.
 
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 21, 2021 from the Bogart United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joe Huff officiating.  The family will receive friends at the graveside.  Those attending should please wear a protective mask and observe safe social distancing due to the COVID 19 Pandemic.

MASON
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Roberta Marie Stull Mason, age 82 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, January 8, 2021.  Mrs. Mason was born in Sandy, Ohio a daughter of the late Telford and Faye Jones Stull.  Mrs. Mason was retired from Bell’s Food Market in Jefferson after a number of years where she was always recognized by customers by her friendly smile and sweet disposition.
Survivors include a daughter, Michele Mason Malone of Jefferson.  Sister, Betty Sharady of New Philadelphia, Ohio.  Two grandchildren, Jennifer Gibbons of Clarksville and Buford D. Malone III of Athens.  Two great grandchildren, Cody and Chesney Loudermilk also survive.

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Carole Jean Zimmerman, age 77, of Jefferson, who passed away on December 30, 2020. Mrs. Zimmerman was born in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter to the late John Henry Brooker and the late GeNearl Babb Brooker. Mrs. Zimmerman was a Homemaker, who was very artistic and possessed a talent for painting.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Zimmerman of Jefferson; children, William Tracy Zimmerman of Jefferson, Teresa Z. Andrews and her husband Todd of Watkinsville, Tanya Z. Barnett and her husband Shane of Suwanee; brother, John Earl Brooker of Dalton; grandchildren, Ashley A. Durden and her husband Tommy, Kayla Callahan and her husband Justin, Jonathan Barnett and Justin Barnett; great grandchildren, Emma Rae Callahan, Aubree Ann Durden and Baxter Todd Durden also survives.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Andrews officiating. The burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens in Jefferson, Georgia with Mrs. Zimmerman’s family honored as pallbearers.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Agnes “Teeter” Payne Bell, age 83 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Tuesday, December 29, 2020.  Mrs. Bell was born in Jefferson, Georgia a daughter of the late Alvin and Lona Jackson Payne, and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church where she was very involved with youth activities for many years.  Mrs. Bell was a homemaker and the former owner of “Teeter’s for Children”.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bell is preceded by her husband of fifty-seven years, L.C. “Boney” Bell, two sisters, Mary “Tootsie” Norris and Hazel Lancaster and a brother Joe Payne.
 
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Porter and her husband Don of Jefferson, Beth Hudgins and her husband John of Gainesville, and Amy Dial and her husband Alan of Jefferson.  Six grandchildren, Lora Gary, Joe Porter(Stephanie), Sara Brisbois (Ben), Clay Dial, Amelia Dial, and Hannah Hudgins.  Three great grandchildren, Sebastian Gary, Jenna Gary and Barrett Brisbois.  Four sisters, Peggy Shirley, Neta Hix, Reba Wofford and Nancy Payne all of Jefferson.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 2, 2021 from the Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Bill Compton officiating.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Joe Porter, Ben Brisbois, Clay Dial, Mike Bell, Luke Bell, and Levi Bell.  Those attending are asked to maintain safe social distancing and please wear a mask due to the current Covid19 Pandemic.

McDONALD


Betsy Ross Hays McDonald was born on the family farm on February 20, 1933.  Went to be with the Lord on December 29th, 2020 at the age of 87She was the daughter of W.H. and Bertie Simmons Hays.  Betsy was a 1950 Graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Bessie Tift College.  On March 18th, 1959 she married the late Ray McDonald.  They successfully ran a large cattle farm in the Jackson Trail Community.  Betsy received the Centennial Farm Award in 2008 for continuing the family farm for over 100 years.
 
She was a member of Union Baptist Church, joining in 1949.  She attended Union for 87 years.  She taught Sunday School of every age.  She wrote the first Church History in 1972.  She was preceded in death by parents, husband, a daughter, Mae Allene McDonald, a brother W.H. Hays, Jr. 
 
She is survived by sons and daughter in laws, Jimmy and Anne McDonald, Andy and Stephanie McDonald.  Granddaughters, Beth and Susan, and grandsons, Will and Charlie.  Sister-in-law Carrie Hays.  Nieces and nephews, Tammy Hyder, Carol Dollar, John Hays, and Chris Hays.
 
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M.
