KING

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Charlie Paul King, age 81 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Saturday, November 21, 2020.  Mr. King was born in Centre, Alabama, the son of the late Paul and Beulah Haggard King, was retired from Leggett & Platt after forty - three years of service, was a Charter Member of the Jackson County Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.  In addition to his parents, Mr. King is preceded by the mother of his children, Ellen Golding King, and step-granddaughter Amber Moore.  Charlie was a devote Christian,  devoted Husband and loving Father to his Children. Survivors include his wife, Mary Boyce Keith King. Four sons, Michael King and his wife Kathy, Mark King and his wife Kim, Kevin King and his wife Kim, and Keith King and his wife Avonda.  Sister, Nellie Espin.  Brothers, Michael King and his wife Sylvia and Jerry King and his wife Darlene. Step - Mother, Barbara King.  Step - Children, Rebecca Rogers, Ronald Dickinson and his wife Beverly, Dee Ann Fryer and her husband Greg, John Dickinson and his wife Lisa, and Georgie Dickinson and his wife Jill.  Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren also survive.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Lawson and Reverend Matt Booher officiating with burial to follow in Rehoboth Cemetery, 3000 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia. FEATHER

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Helen Marie Allred Feather, age 68 of Maysville, Georgia who entered into rest Saturday, November 21, 2020.  Mrs. Feather was born in North Carolina, a daughter of the late Garland and Claire Allred and was a Manager with Walmart.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Feather is preceded by two sisters, Eva Lou Hughes(Sissy) and Barbara Krauss.  Survivors include her husband Arthur Feather of Maysville, daughters; Candy Martin (Brian), Sherrell Barrett (Chris), and Marie Wagner.  Son, Paul Feather.  Brothers; Raymond Allred (Shelly), Daniel Allred (Lynn) and Homer Allred.  Sisters; Ruth Davis, Wanda Feather (Billy), Betty Eisenhart (Jerry). Grandchildren; Alexi Gresham (Davante), Destiny McWatters, Faith McWatters, Ana Wagner, Sabrina Martin, Brayden Watkins, Ashley Pendarvous, Summer Pendarvous, Katie Pendarvous.  Great grandchildren; Asher McWatters, Mariah Gresham and Tianna Gresham.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. WILKES

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Robert Dean Wilkes, who passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of Tuesday, November 17, 2020. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. He was the eldest son of Cecil and Pauline Wilkes. He was married to his wife, Viola Marie Michaud for over fifty years. Preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, his brothers Claude and Alton Wilkes and his sister Brenda Wilkes.
The rolling hills of Georgia, the serenity, peacefulness, and the melodious sounds of nature is a wonderful blessing. Dean always felt that this area was the most beautiful of anywhere in the world.  He loved nature and spent time out in it as much as possible.  He had a green thumb and was known for his beautiful Knockout Roses which were featured in the Jackson Herald.  Born June 24, 1941 in a natural log cabin on his granddaddy’s farm in Brockton.  Later his family moved to the Redstone Community.  This is where he grew up on a farm where he learned the value of hard work.  He attended Jefferson High School.  Later, he enlisted in the armed forces in 1962.  Initially, he was stationed in Maine where he met Viola Marie Michaud whom he would later marry. In 1965, he received an honorable discharge, married Viola and started a family in the community he had grown up in.  Employed by Westinghouse in 1965, he held various positions. Sent to advanced schools by Westinghouse for management and supervisory at University of Georgia and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Promoted to foreman in 1970 and to first line supervisor in 1971.
In 1975 he answered his true calling and began his lifelong career of law enforcement. He joined the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, serving the people of his hometown.  He filled several positions including a road deputy in the fall of 1975. He also attended the Police Academy. Upon completion of the Academy, he was assigned to the Felony Warrant Division and also the Field Training Officer (FTO) for the department.  During his career in law enforcement, other specialized training included: Homicide, Burglary, Investigation, Explosives and Crime Scene. During his law enforcement career, he held various ranks from CPL to Captain, Jail Administrator to Chief Deputy when the Sherriff was out and away from the department. Later on, he went to Clarke County Sheriff’s Department. He served here until retirement as the classification director.  Longtime attender of First Baptist Church of Jefferson. He loved his Church family. Special thanks to Tom Bledsoe, Fred Gurley, Andy Garrison and Melvin Porter.  The Graveside Service will be held 2:00 P.M.  Friday, November 20, 2020, in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Michael Helms officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside.  He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Shepherd and her husband Ross of Hull and Deanna Poole and her husband Chris of Jefferson. Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Michelle “Chelle” Holder Carter, age 50 of Hoschton, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, November 4, 2020.  Mrs. Holder was born in Gainesville, Georgia the daughter of Billy and Linda Evans Holder of Hoschton, was a homemaker and loving wife, daughter, mother and grandmother.  Survivors in addition to her parents are her husband, Jack W. Carter, Jr. of Hoschton, son, Skylar T. Carter of Hoschton, daughter, Tegan Shea Carter of Rome.  Brother, Scott Holder of Jefferson and two grandsons, Robbie Lee Hubbard and Ryland Hubbard also survive.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Catherine Cranford Herringdine, age 69, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020. Mrs. Herringdine was born in Atlanta, Georgia, a daughter to the late Hugh and Ruby Pair Cranford. Mrs. Herringdine was a member of the Peoples Baptist Church in Jefferson, was a Homemaker, and was retired from the Internal Revenue Service.  Survivors include her husband, Charlie Herringdine of Jefferson; daughters, Dana Lynn Frye and her husband Marcus of Winder, Katie Carroll and her husband Darroll of DeLand, Florida.  The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Palmer Pace and Rev. Albert Whitlock officiating.
