KESLER
Mrs. Frances Huff Kesler went to be with the Lord, peacefully in her home on April 12, 2021 in Athens, Georgia at the age of 88.
 
Mrs. Kesler was born in Greensboro, Georgia, a daughter to the late William David Huff and the late Fannie Butler Huff.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Reverend Dennis Kesler, and sister, Betty J. Epps.  Mrs. Kesler was a homemaker and a Pastor’s Wife, and a member of The Jefferson Church in Jefferson, Georgia. The couple reared five children, raising them up in the church and the things of God, and creating a legacy of faith for the generations that follow.
 
Mrs. Kesler is survived by her children, Clarke Kesler (Sandie), Martha Hulsey (Duward), Carol Strangway (Merle), Phillip Kesler (Cheryl) and Mary P. Hix (Allen), brothers, Samuel D. Huff (Elaine) and Asa F. Huff (Susan); as well as twelve grandchildren, thirty – two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 15, 2021 from The Jefferson Church with Reverend Reverend Rodney Kesler, Reverend J.D. Sosebee, Reverend Ronald Wilson and Reverend Nick Dalton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Nicholson Cemetery with Reverend Mark Mobley and Reverend Morris Sapp officiating.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Brian Watkins, Joe Couch, Clay Huff, Wesley Huff, John Wood, Lee Swain, David Morgan.  The family will receive friends 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Jefferson Church, 267 Mahaffey Street, Jefferson, Georgia 30549.
 
The family would like to acknowledge with great appreciation the faithful caregivers who have served our parents for many years.  Also Bridgeway Hospice for their outstanding service.  We would also like to recognize Ridgeway Hospice for doing an outstanding job with the care of our Mama.

WILSON
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Larry Wilson, age 71 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Saturday, April 10, 2021.  Mr. Wilson was born in Jefferson, Georgia a son of the late Otis Mitchell Wilson and the late Jesse White Wilson.  Mr. Wilson was a retired Commercial Plumber and enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson is preceded by brothers, James, Harold and John Wilson and grandsons, Adam and Dakota Wilson.
 
Survivors include his wife, Miriam Gerstner Wilson of Jefferson.  Three daughters, Wanda Walters and her husband James of Commerce, Melissa Sims and her husband John of Danielsville and Deangela Gresham of Lawrenceville.  Two sons, William Wilson and his wife Sharon of Commerce and Larry Christopher Wilson of Crawford.  Two sisters, Guynelle McAllister of Braselton and Betty Jo Latham of Braselton.  Two brothers, Charles Wilson of Suwanee, and Steve Wilson of Suwanee.  Thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
 
Graveside funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from the Dry Pond United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Scotty Wilson officiating.  Honored as pallbearers are Betty Jo Wilson, Austin Wilson, Reed McAllister, Jeff McAllister, Wesley Wilson and Johnny Holcomb.  The family will receive friends 9:00 – 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.

DORSEY

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Rickie Stanley Dorsey, age 72 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Saturday, April 10, 2021.  Mr. Dorsey was born in Cleveland, Georgia a son of the late John Felton Dorsey and Joyce Gwendolyn Thomas Dorsey of Jefferson.  Mr. Dorsey was a member of Northstar Church, a graduate of Lanier Tech, a Decorated Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
 
In addition to his mother, survivors include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Bobbie Woodall Dorsey of Jefferson.  Son, Chad Dorsey and his wife Gloria of Jefferson, daughter, DeAnn Dorsey Winkle and her husband Casey of Jefferson.  Three grandchildren, Devon Dorsey, Kellie Edge and Asher Winkle.  Brother Randy Dorsey and his wife Ann of Jefferson.
 
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Harbin officiating with burial to follow with military honors at Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce, Georgia.  The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Monday, April 12, 2021 at the funeral home.

WIDMER
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. George Widmer, Jr. age 90 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Sunday, April 4, 2021.  Mr. Widmer was born in New York City, a son of the late George Widmer, Sr. and the late Jean Lesser Widmer.  Mr. Widmer was a retired Mechanic and Air Freight Exporter, was a Semi Pro Bowler, a Lt. Auxilary Police Officer, an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion Post 56.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Widmer is preceded by his wife Carolyn Ann Scalone Widmer.
 
Survivors include a daughter, Georgiana Powers of Jefferson and a son, Gregory Rhett Widmer of Woodstock.  Grandchildren, Jacob S. Powers, Justin D. Powers and George R. Widmer, III.
 
Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from Evans Memory Gardens with Military Honors.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the funeral home.

HANSON
Mr. Harris O’Neal Hanson, age 85 of Jefferson, went home to be with his Jesus on Thursday, April 1, 2021.  Harris was born in Jefferson and spent his entire life on his beloved homestead.  He believed in being a steward of the land and valued his family heritage.
 
Harris was a devoted son, husband, and father.  He was the son of the late Inus Patmon Hanson and the late Mary Harris Hanson.  He loved spending time with his daddy and often mentioned how he couldn’t wait to sit and talk with him again.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hanson is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Inus Hanson.
 
Survivors include his wife, Frances Reynolds Hanson of Jefferson, one daughter, Vicki Allen and her husband Matthew of Commerce, and his sister, Jeanette Smith of Greensboro.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
Harris and Frances were married for 61 years and had one daughter.  He loved his wife and daughter, Vicki, and was proud of his family and the life he had built for them.  After retiring from UGA as a skilled heating and air specialist, he spent many days working on his land and spending time with his family.  He also found much joy in supporting ministries who were spreading the gospel around the world.
 
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 1:00 pm at the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Clarence Reynolds officiating.  At the family’s request, those attending are asked to wear protective masks and maintain safe social distancing due to the COVID Pandemic.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4659 Brockton Road, Jefferson, Georgia 30549.

PHILLIPS

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Robert Jesse “Bobby” Phillips, age 68 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, March 31, 2021.  Mr. Phillips was born in Athens, Georgia the son of the late Jesse Edward Phillips and Inez Tench Phillips of Jefferson.  Mr. Phillips was retired from the U.S. Air Force, served in Desert Storm, and was a member of the VFW. 
 
Survivors in addition to his mother is a sister Susan Phillips of Jefferson.  Uncle, Buddy Phillips of Cumming, cousins Tracey Phillips of Dawsonville, Bud Phillips of Florida, Paula Phillips of Cumming, Lisa Sweat of Jefferson, Jesse Pearson of Dawsonville, and Jake Phillips of Dawsonville.  Numerous other cousins from the Jefferson area and trusted canine companions, Kate and Chewy also survive.
 
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, April 5, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with military honors.  The family will receive friends Monday 11:00 - 3:00  P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
