Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Linda Evans Holder, age 77 of Hoschton, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, February25, 2021.  Mrs. Holder was born in Hoschton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Ralph “Pete” Evans and the late Mary Lee Wilson Evans.  Mrs. Holder was retired from Warren Featherbone with many years of faithful service as a Credit Analyst.  She also retired from Jackson County Government where she managed the Hoschton Voting Precinct for a period of fifty years.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holder is preceded by her daughter, Michelle Holder Carter and a brother, Glen Evans.
 
Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine-years, Billy G. Holder of Hoschton.  One son, Scott Holder and his wife Kimberly of Jefferson.  Brother, Gene Evans of Buford, sister, Brenda Sue Evans of Hoschton.  Son in law, Jack W. Carter, Jr. of Hoschton.  Five grandchildren, Skylar Carter, Devan Holder, Drew Holder, Tegan Carter, Chetson Holder.  Great grandchildren, Robbie Lee Hubbard, Rylan Hubbard.
 
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 28, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Bishop Jerry Gaddis and Reverend Calvin Gooch officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hoschton City Cemetery.  Gentlemen honored as Pallbearers are Skylar Carter, Devan Holder, Drew Holder, Mark McEver, Kenneth Edge and Jack Carter. Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Merle Edins Williamson, age 89 of Jefferson, Georgia and the Arcade Community who entered into rest Thursday, February 25, 2021.  Mrs. Williamson was born in Bethlehem, Barrow County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charlie Edins and the late Alice Ray Edins.  Merle was the devoted wife and business partner to her late husband, Bradley “Slim” Williamson.  From radio in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee to family run music companies in Nashville, they worked diligently together to turn dreams to reality. She once said, “we are living a dream”.  For her that dream began at the age of 17 when she met and married Slim and continued with the births of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  The music they broadcast, produced, marketed and promoted was the soundtrack to their lives built on the foundation of God’s blessing.
Merle’s life was abundant with love, family and friendships. From traveling and social gatherings to cooking in the kitchen and playing cards, she truly lived to the fullest. Though her most important and cherished role was always that of a highly devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her husband, Merle is preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Williamson Rice.
Survivors include two sons, Cliff Williamson and his wife Cindy of Nashville, Tennessee, Marty Williamson and his wife Cathie of Athens.  Son in law Bob Rice of Madison.  Grandchildren, Jennifer Randolph, Cortney Tidwell, Steven (Shannon) Sanders, Samantha (Chip) Aaron, Velvet (Lance ) Gregory, Amber (Sean) Galunas, and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 28, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Minister John Wood officiating.  Burial will follow in the Williamson Family Cemetery, Highway 82 South, Jefferson, Georgia.  The family will receive friends 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. SULLIVAN
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Ms. Kathleen Mary Sullivan, age 68, of Bethlehem, Georgia, who passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Ms. Sullivan was born in Buffalo, New York, a daughter to the late Glenn Edward Sullivan and the late Mary Jane Coughlin Sullivan. Ms. Sullivan has been a member of A Call to Salvation Church in Jefferson, Georgia, since the Church was organized in 1996. Ms. Sullivan has also served as the Church Secretary for the last nineteen years. In addition to her parents, Ms. Sullivan was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Ann Sullivan.
Survivors include her son, Anthony Italia and his wife Cree of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Austin Italia and his wife Jordan of Loganville, Dominic Italia and his wife Victoria of Athens; great granddaughter, Indy Kate Italia of Loganville; brother, Glenn Edward Sullivan of Buffalo, New York also survives.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 6:00 PM at A Call to Salvation Church with Pastor Arlene Smith officiating.
The visitation will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, at A Call to Salvation Church, prior to the service.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. James “Jimmy” Lamar Wood Sr., age 55 of Martin, Georgia who passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021.
Mr. Wood was born to the late James Marshall Wood and Jean Berryman Wood, and was a mechanic for Triple H Transport.
 
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of seventeen years, Mrs. Tammy Clark Wood, daughter Kriystal Wood, son James Wood Jr., and his wife Christina, daughter Tiffany Morgan and her husband Bobby, son Travis Gilliam and his wife Whitlie, son Fuzz Webb, and a daughter BreAnna Webb and her husband Denver. Thirteen Grandchildren also survive.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Harold Leon Pettyjohn, Sr., age 77 of Talmo, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, February 12, 2021.  Mr. Pettyjohn was born in Dekalb County, Georgia a son of the late Claud and Mattie Estelle Buffington Pettyjohn and was retired from Pilgrims Pride Live Haul.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Pettyjohn is preceded by two brothers, Robert and Paul Pettyjohn and two sisters, Evelyn Lewallen and Vivian Hepner.
 
Survivors include two sons, Harold Pettyjohn Jr. of Talmo and Randy Pettyjohn of Hoschton.  One daughter, Lisa Buckner of Seneca, South Carolina.  One sister, Doris Swanson of Atlanta.  Eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren also survive.
 
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from the Talmo Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Spence, Reverend Phil Carpenter and Reverend Harold Pettyjohn, Jr. officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Christopher “Chris” Scottie Nix, age 50, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021. Mr. Nix was born in Athens, Georgia, a son to the late Howard Pratt Nix and the late Sara Baker Nix. Mr. Nix was a Truck Driver with Panel Truss and was a member of the Galilee Christian Church in Jefferson, Georgia.
 
Survivors include wife, Missy Michelle Bond Nix of Jefferson; daughter, Taylor Nix of Jefferson; sons, Cody Nix and Colton Nix both of Jefferson; sister, Diane Pittman and her husband Charles of Jefferson; brother, James Nix and his wife Cathi of Hull; several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from the Galilee Christian Church with Minister Brian Larue officiating with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Jason Pittman, Brad Pittman, Jeff Nix, Ty Lowe, Jacob Crumley, Kyle Crumley, Eric Gunter and Johnny Bond.  The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 P.M. MARTIN
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Kenneth Harold Martin, age 77 of Talmo, Georgia who entered into rest Friday, February 12, 2021.  Mr. Martin was born in Talmo, Georgia a son of the late Fred Harold Martin and the late Kathleen Justus Martin, was a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church and was the Founder of M & M Transmission.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin is preceded by brothers, W.A. Martin and Danny Ray Martin and sisters, Mildred Daniel and Linda Sue Massey and also his wife Melinda Gunter Martin.
 
Survivors include two sons, Todd Martin and his wife Cindy of Monroe, Rick Harold Martin of Winder.  Daughter, Robby Goss and her husband Ron of Jefferson.  One sister, Marie Martin of Cleveland, three brothers, Summie Martin of Gainesville, Roger Martin of Talmo and Dennis James Martin of Talmo.  Nineteen grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren also survive.
 
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from the Pond Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Knight officiating with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  The body will be placed in the Church at 1:00 P.M..  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. WOOD
Roberta Geneva Wood went to be with her love Charles on February 11, 2021.  In Heaven together again, Charles and Roberta were married 50 years, and lived all their lives in Jefferson, Georgia.  They raised four children and one adopted grandson.  Roberta was retired from Baker & Taylor, loved planting flowers and loved her grandchildren.  Roberta was a big Atlanta Braves fan. She attended Attica Baptist Church. Roberta was born in Rabun County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Claude B. and Novie Turpin Davis.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Wood is preceded by sisters, Eva Edwards, Dot Pittman and Hazel Smith and brothers, Clyde Davis and Ed Davis and her beloved husband, Charles Benson Wood.
 
Survivors her children, Bradley Wood (Peggy) of Lynnville, Tennessee, Diana Fulcher (Terry) of Jefferson, Dale Wood (Shirley) of Jefferson, Toni Marie Kirkland of Jefferson, adopted son Dustin Wood (Sierra) of Jefferson.  Sister, Claudia Chastain of Jefferson and brother, Johnny Davis (Donna) of Danielsville.  Nine grandchildren and fourteen  great grandchildren also survive.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Edith Faye Tullis Culpepper, age 84 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, February 10, 2021.  Mrs. Culpepper was born in Jefferson, Georgia a daughter of the late Lamar and Edna Snelling Tullis, was a member of Talmo Baptist Church and was retired from the Jackson County School System.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Culpeper is preceded by her granddaughter, Keri Carpenter and her husband Hugh Lee Culpepper. 
 
Survivors include a daughter Debbie Stewart of Jefferson, a son, Dr. Jeff Culpepper (Carla) of Canton.  One grandson, Jackson Culpepper, one grandson in law, Cecil Carpenter, both of Jefferson.  Two great grandsons, Anthony and Nicholas Carpenter of Jefferson.  Three sisters, Lanelle Paul (Walter) of McDonough, Pat Fox (Bill) of Acworth and Linda Cofield of Commerce.  A brother, James Tullis (Pam) of Stockbridge also survives.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Jimmy Hal Benton, age 82 of Commerce, Georgia (Dry Pond Community) who entered into rest Wednesday, February 10, 2021.  Mr. Benton was born in Jefferson, Georgia a son of the late Harold M. and Leora Cruce Benton, was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Benton is preceded by a brother, Roger Benton and his wife Jessie Garrison Benton.
 
Survivors include two daughters, Joni Patrick and her husband Joe of Jefferson, Carol Pound of Jefferson.  Brother, Larry Benton of Jefferson, sister, Beverly Green of Alpharetta. Special Friend, Pauline Hancock of Jefferson.

WEST
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Christopher “Chris” Lee West, age 54 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, February 10, 2021.  Mr. West was born in Atlanta, Georgia a son of the late James Gerald Glenn West and the late Mary Parris West.  Mr. West was a retired Salesman in the Construction Industry and had received his Bachelors Degree from Devry University.  In addition to his parents, Mr. West is preceded by a brother David West.
 
Survivors include his wife Jennifer Heard West of Jefferson.  Three sons, Desten West (Allie) of Monroe, Joseph Gregor and Jon Gregor of Jefferson.  Daughter, Bailey West (Eric Clopein) of Commerce.  Three grandchildren, Rogue, Wesley and Peyton West.  Sister, Andrea Grisham (Danny) of Buford, brother, Mike West of Conyers.
 
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 12, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 12:00-2:00 prior to the service.  In accordance with the wishes of Mr. West, cremation will take place after the service.

STRICKLAND
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Kendall Wayne Strickland, age 56 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Tuesday, February 9, 2021.  Mr. Strickland was born in Athens, Georgia a son of the late William Delean Strickland and Kathleen Free Strickland of Jefferson.   Mr. Strickland was a retired Electrician and is also preceded by a brother, William Eugene Strickland.
 
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Darlene Martin Strickland of Jefferson.  Two sisters, Karen Dill of Jefferson and Rosie Cash of Bogart.
 
Mr. Strickland’s wishes were to be cremated and no service held at this time.

GAILARD
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Randall Talmadge Gaillard, age 79, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021. Mr. Gaillard was a son to the late Dewitt Talmadge Gaillard and the late Leila Passmore Gaillard. Mr. Gaillard was a master carpenter, specializing in finishing work. He was a hunter, fisherman, artist, photographer, beagle breeder, rode motorcycles, and enjoyed having a fish fry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gaillard was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Gaillard and Billie Sue Wilson Gibby and his brother, Tommy Dunagan.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Phillips Gaillard of Jefferson; daughters, Donna Gaillard Roland of Jefferson, Stephanie Gaillard Lee and her husband Richard of Jefferson; grandchildren, Taylor Roland, Edmond, OK, Tessa Roland Reed and her husband Chase of Gainesville, Maliah Lee and MiaBella Lee both of Jefferson; great grandchild, Tanner Roland of Edmond, OK; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ray is survived by daughters, Ellen Hopper of Woodstock GA, Elizabeth Logan and her husband Al of Dillard GA, Rachel Coleman and her husband Jerry Coleman of Dacula, GA; grandchildren, Reagan Coleman, Ryan Coleman and wife Miranda, and sister Patricia Henry of Manteno IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Marie Hopper, his wife of 33 years, Elsie Stake Hopper, 2 sisters, 1 brother and long-time companion Diane Farmer.
Ray was born in Chicago, IL.  He graduated from high school and joined the US Marine Corp. In 1965 he began what was to become a 30-year career with Capitol Records. He was fortunate to meet some great artists such as Glen Campbell, Bob Seger, Garth Brooks and Duran Duran.  He also worked extensively with Turtles Records and Tapes where he was affectionately known as “Daddy Ray”.
After retiring from Capitol Records, he moved to Lake Hartwell and became an avid hiker with the NE Georgia Mountain Hiking Club.  His proudest achievements were hiking part of the Appalachian Trail and to the bottom of the Grand Canyon while in his 70s.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy or Catholic Charities.

EGGLESTON
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Conoly Eggleston, age 80, of Jefferson, who passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021. Mrs. Eggleston was born in Eden, North Carolina, a daughter to the late James Ollie Sugg and the late Elizabeth McThaul Sugg. Mrs. Eggleston graduated from Greensboro College with a Bachelors Degree in Education, was a homemaker, and a member of the Sandy Springs Christian Church.
 
Survivors include her husband, John S. Eggleston Jr. of Jefferson; sons, John S. Eggleston III and his wife Lisa of Flowery Branch, Jeffrey S. Eggleston of Jefferson; grandchildren, Jessica Wood and Lauren Powell; great grandchildren, Smythe Wood and Charlotte Wood also survive. 
 
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Mitch Wesley officiating.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 1:00 P.M until 3:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30606.

PRESLEY
Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. James Paul Presley, age 73 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, January 28, 2021.  Mr. Presley was born in Decatur, Georgia a son of the late James Clarence Presley and the late Gloria Ann Christiansen Presley.  Mr. Presley was a member of the Sons of the Legion of American Legion Post 56, a member of the South Side Church and enjoyed a successful career of thirty - two years as a Police Officer with the Gwinnett County Police Department.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Presley is preceded by his wife Rose Ann Sweeney Presley and a brother Johnny Presley.
 
Survivors include a son, James Presley and his wife Jennifer of Jefferson.  Grandchildren, Trace, Kaylin and Ellis.  Two brothers, Tommy and Jerry Presley. 
 
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from Southside Church with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating with burial to follow in Athens Memory Gardens, 5195 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia. 30605.  The family will receive friends 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 1, 2021 at the funeral home. Those attending are asked to practice safe social distancing and to please wear a protective mask due to the COVID 19 Pandemic.
