Are you interested in helping the children of your community? Be an advocate! Walk alongside a child in foster care, help them make sense of court hearings, make sure their needs are being met, and help them find a permanent home faster. Piedmont CASA invites you to attend training classes starting in August and learn more about what it means to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Visit www.piedmontcasa.org to learn more.
During the entire month of August, the Winder Public Library is reducing patron fines by donating dog and cat items for the Barrow County Animal Shelter. Patrons can reduce fines, up to $10. Even if you don’t owe fines, you can still drop your donations to the library.
Items needed by the shelter : bleach, cat carriers, dog crates, dish soap, paper towels, laundry detergent, dry dog food, wet canned cat food (pate only), dry cat food, hand sanitizer, non-clumping cat litter, blankets/towels, kitten/puppy milk replacer, dog treats, dog leashes and toys.
Register for the first Out of The Darkness Walk in Barrow County! The goal is to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
